Course description
Designed for newly-appointed deputy and assistant head teachers, this course
explores your role and responsibilities and helps you identify a personal development plan to support or complement your induction into your new position. Feeling confident and being competent to
take on new roles and responsibilities is vital if your school is to maintain its focus and continue to progress the priorities in your school plan.

Aims of this course
- to reflect on the key areas of headship
- clarifying the range of roles and responsibilities of deputy and assistant head teachers & head teachers
- exploring the range of roles and responsibilities of deputy and assistant head teachers & head teachers
- exploring a range of challenging situations which you may face
- identifying a solutions-based approach to problem-solving underpinned by the effective use of emotional intelligence
- devising a forward-looking induction and professional development plan reflecting the needs of both you and your school
- having the opportunity to reflect on current practice in relation to working towards the national standards for head teachers
- identifying your strengths and selecting priority areas for improvements
